TOTEM, the enigmatic artist/songwriter who has gotten an array of great responses on the release of his demos starting last fall, recently wrapped up the first of a new round of fresh and melodious material. TOTEM collaborated with the infamous twosome, Kinetics & One Love on the highly addictive “believe in us.” Warner/Chappell duo and songwriting/production team produced the track, which also features a rap verse from Kinetics.  The duo has also produced “Dollhouse” for Melanie Martinez, Neon Hitch’s last EP and “Airplanes “for B.O.B. (6x platinum, Grammy nominated).

On this hot collaboration, TOTEM says, “i couldn’t be happier about having created this one with kinetics & one love. we went down a couple youtube rabbit holes during the process (jordan knight’s “give it to you” was on repeat for a long time), but we emerged on the other side with something that we all love.”

“there’s more coming. a lot more. some of the songs i’ve written were meant only for me. but there comes a time when you have to decide to trust where the music came from and trust that it wants to be heard.”

“‘Columbia’ is only the fourth official release from the artist, but his sound has already developed a complexity that really makes itself apparent in the second-half of the track, especially. The background harmonies that fade in and out give the whole effort a distinctly eerie feel, and everything is tied up nicely by the end to form what is probably one of the better tracks this week has had to offer. If you aren’t already a TOTEM fan, then go check out the rest of the man’s work. Chances are you’ll find a couple new tracks to keep on repeat while you wait for more new material from this up-and-coming producer.”

“The lead singer has a really gorgeous tone, and a very impressive vocal range. The instrumentals are simple, down tempo, and electronically driven which really allow the vocals to be the star. On top of that, the vocalist’s lyrics are dripping with sensuality.”

“Gorgeously passionate yet subtle”

“There’s a spontaneous, visceral, immediacy-of-the-moment quality to the track that really enhances its believability and its power; you really believe (TOTEM) and you believe his character is real; like someone you know. It’s that emotional intimacy that makes it particularly special.”
