KIVEN, the Los Angeles based rock quartet, will be hitting the road on a western U.S. tour with My Body Sings Electric!  The tour kicks off on April 30th in Los Angeles as their second single “I Can Take It” begins radio rotation, following their latest single “In the Fire” which spent nine weeks on the KROQ charts.  The tour will span from Southern to Northern California as well as the Mid-NorthWest, hitting Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Montana, Washington, Idaho, and Utah, featuring dates with GROUPLOVE, Ben & LP (formerly of Yellowcard), Beware of Darkness, and more. Full list of dates below! For more on the band and ticket information, please visit: www.kivenmusic.com

KIVEN, comprised of Tyler Demorest, Matt Cohen, Danny Schnair and Jake Reed, recently released their self-titled album on February 25th.   Merging thick guitars and entrancing harmonies, the record properly captures the group’s heavy and hypnotic sound, preserving its enigmatic intensity and ethereal spirit in the process.  The album was recorded at EastWest Studios and Pie Town at MixLA and is available on iTunes, here: bit.ly/1ppWED2.

KIVEN manages to make history with one stand out track, “I Can Take It”. For the first time, the man behind At The Drive-In’s arrangements, Tony Hajjar, stepped behind the board to produce an outside band.  With the legendary drummer’s help, the group taps into palpable and potent energy.  “I saw so much promise in the record, but we only found time to work on one song. We had such an easy back and forth on ideas, and we had pretty much the same vision to where the song needed to be. Working together on this song proved to be as all music should be: really easy, really smooth, and super energetic,” Hajjar stated about working with the band.

When asked about the album, vocalist, guitarist, and keyboardist Tyler Demorest exclaims, “We spent a lot of time writing songs that were our sound and, at the same time, grew what KIVEN is. Tony [Hajjar] had a big impact on the music. It was a trip to work with someone that we looked up to growing up. He really brought the heavy and energy, adding a big rock vibe.  He pulled that out of us.”  Guitarist Danny Schnair adds, “It was a pretty organic process. We focused on creating something bigger and harder-hitting. My fingers were literally bleeding in the studio. This is really the best introduction to who we are.”

Kiven, who had an exceptionally successful SXSW 2014, has previously been featured in the likes of KROQ, Buzzbands LA, The Deli Magazine, Purevolume, and was named the #2 “Great Indie Discovery of CMJ” by Entertainment Weekly after a powerful performance at CMJ in 2012.  Kiven has also been spotlighted by BMI in both 2013 and 2014, and will be featured in the upcoming issue of Alternative Press in the ‘Bands to Watch’ feature.

With a debut full-length album, upcoming tour and various notable achievements under their belt, 2014 is going to be a stand out year for KIVEN.  For more information, please visit: www.kivenmusic.com.
