Minneapolis “hyper-active dance pop” duo Koo Koo Kanga Roo (aka Neil and Bryan) has just announced dates for a fall tour which kicks off October 8 in St. Paul. MN and wraps up on November 12 in Decorah, IA.
A supporting stint on the Yo Gabba Gabba Live! It’s Time To Dance Tour, the smash national concert tour featuring Nick Jr TV sensations Yo Gabba Gabba!, starts October 18 in Scranton, PA and runs through October 29 in Charlotte, NC.
Koo Koo Kanga Roo will be touring in support of their brand new, self-released EP Midnight Slushie.
Bryan, self-proclaimed “Professional Choreographed Dancer and Gummi Worm Eater” and one half of the always energetic and engaging Koo Koo Kanga Roo, says, “Neil and I are extremely pumped to be getting back on the road this fall! We have been saving up all summer for gummi bears, confetti, costumes and balloons so we can bring the best dance party of peoples lives to them through the power of the KOO! (By the power of the Koo, I mean us sweating a ton and dancing our butts off).”
So just what is Koo Koo Kanga Roo?!?
The next Top 40 gurus…check!
The craziest act you have ever seen…double check!!
Koo Koo Kanga Roo is all about dancing, yelling, and bringing the party. Founders Bryan and Neil won’t be satisfied until the entire room has joined in on the fun. Think the Beastie Boys multiplied by Sesame Street plus the driving dance beats of Daft Punk and the live show antics of the Flaming Lips! You will get sweaty and wild! Oh…and costumes are encouraged!
How did Koo Koo Kangaroo come to be?
Performing in an indie rock band was fun…for a while. Then the constant lugging of gear, half an hour sound checks, and an audience who was only ever half interested in the music they were playing began to take its toll. Bryan and Neil agreed there was more to being in a band than just playing music for their fans.
The goal was to create the most fun interactive live show that no one had seen before. The tools to accomplish that goal were; a giant roll of paper (to cover their dorm walls with ideas), a few sharpies, their super weird imaginations, and no rules! A few months later, with those goal accomplished, a dance duo was formed, and that duo was Koo Koo Kanga Roo.
Bryan and Neil’s hyperactive stage presence is the driving force onstage and off. Both have a strong commitment to creating an experience that will have you singing in the shower for weeks and reminiscing about the best things in life. It will be the best show you’ve ever seen, the first time you ever see it!
What are others are saying about Koo Koo Kanga Roo?
“For Koo Koo Bryan and Koo Koo Neil — brooding indie rock is so last summer. The former rockers have not only converted to the church of booty shaking but are now leading the choir.”- In Utah This Week
“Hailing out of Minneapolis, Neil and Brian first began fusing their twisted hip-hop and dance music with kindergarten memories about four years ago. Since then, they’ve done major tours with the likes of Reel Big Fish and have garnered an audience that ranges in age from 4 to 24. With these guys, it’s just iPods and costumes as they lead crowds in sing-a-longs concerning the best sounding letters in the alphabet and the joys of eating sandwiches without the crusts. Kind of like a really demented and even more nerdy version of They Might Be Giants.”- Dallas Observer
“Hardcore kids music…techno rap songs about peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and hugs. Two crazy white guys, an ensemble of dancing condiments, and a thousand balloons everywhere don’t even come close to describing the utter chaos and insanity that is the Koo Koo bunch.”- BGnarly.com
