Kristopher Roe Releases Acoustic Album of The Ataris Songs for Free Download

By on June 15, 2012

Kristopher Roe of The Atarishas put an acoustic album, Hang Your Head In Hope, up for free download in the Paper + Plastick Records webstore. Included in the 14-track album are quite a few old Ataris songs, along with some new songs that will appear on The Graveyard of the Atlantic, out this fall via Paper + Plastick Records.

Among the new songs are “All Souls Day” and “The Graveyard of the Atlantic,” which were first released on 7-inch vinyl via Paper + Plastick. Both of those songs will appear on The Ataris’ new record, due for a fall release on the label.

The old songs are taken from The Ataris’ spanning discography and include many fan favorites. “San Dimas High School Football Rules,” ‘Your Boyfriend Sucks,” “In This Diary,” “The Hero Dies In This One” and more are sure to pique the curiosity of old fans. Hang Your Head In Hope offers a different way to freshen up on The Ataris’ history and provides a small holdover until The Graveyard of the Atlantic comes out later this year.

More about The Ataris:
The Ataris are four guys crammed into a shitty van, creating words and music in the basements and dive bars of the world, while young souls pile into the microphone and spill beer into our effects pedals. Honest stories and organic sounds, chock full of heart, sincerity and beautiful mistakes. Played loud and recorded to analog tape.
Sixteen years of traveling the world and five full length studio albums. The Ataris album “So Long, Astoria” included the singles “In This Diary” “Boys of Summer” and “The Saddest Song” selling upwards of 850,000 copies, earning the band a gold record.
The Ataris’ singer/songwriter Kristopher Roe released his first full length solo acoustic album “Hang Your Head in Hope” in November 2011.
All songs were recorded in one take, no edits, no overdubs, using vintage 1940’s ribbon microphones and a 1948 Gibson J-45 guitar. The album contains familiar tracks stripped down as well as a several brand new songs which will later appear on The Ataris forthcoming album “The Graveyard of the Atlantic” in actual full band arrangements.
“Hang Your Head in Hope” is only available from The Ataris’ Bandcamp page. The album is completely FREE. Donations are welcome and very much appreciated.
Kristopher Roe will be out on the 2012 Van’s Warped tour performing on the “Acoustic Basement” stage. Go download his album and then come out and sing along with all of your favorite songs in a intimate, up close, personal setting.
The Ataris are currently finishing up vocals for their new album “The Graveyard of the Atlantic.” The album will be released sometime in 2012 on the Gainesville, Florida label Paper + Plastick. Assuming we all don’t die in a Mayan holocaust.
