Kvelertak has unveiled details of a major North American headline tour deemed, “MEIR TOUR – NORTH AMERICA 2013.” The spring trek celebrates the Norwegian rock band’s hugely anticipated Roadrunner Records debut, MEIR and kicks off April 21st at Chicago’s Bottom Lounge (see attached itinerary). MEIR arrives everywhere on March 26th.

The upcoming tour – first announced exclusively on the renowned metal radio show, Full Metal Jackie– will see Kvelertak accompanied by a line-up that includes Cancer Bats and Black Tusk. A number of additional dates will be revealed in the coming days.

Kvelertak recently heralded MEIR with the first single, “Bruane Brenn,” which quickly earned critical praise from all corners. “It’s a total blast of riffs, adrenaline, football chants, and guitar solos,” raved Stereogum, “and in its four minutes, you get five decades of rock ‘n’ roll, compressed into one massive speedball hit.” The track’s companion video clip is streaming now at Roadrunner’s official YouTube channel.

Produced by Converge’s Kurt Ballou (High on Fire, Torche), MEIR marks an indisputable milestone in modern hard rock. Tracks such as “Evig Vandrar” and the brutal “Nekrokosmos” see Kvelertak melding breakneck energy, tight rhythms, and consistently inventive hooks, riffs, and melodies to construct a distinctive sonic universe all their own. MEIR – which features cover art by Baroness’ John Dyer Baizley – is currently available for pre-order on the iTunes Store and via the official Roadrunner Records webstore. The album is offered in a variety of formats, including digital, CD, and 2-LP gatefold vinyl, with a limited edition bundle pairing the CD with an exclusive new Kvelertak t-shirt available to fans both here and in Europe. All MEIR pre-orders receive an instant MP3 download of “Bruane Brenn.”

Kvelertak made an immediate international impact with their self-titled debut album, earning the six piece outfit iTunes’ 2011 “Metal Breakthrough Artist of the Year” honors as well as reams of critical approval. Pitchfork applauded the collection’s “monolithic walls of adrenal-gland-strangling sound” while LA Weekly ranked lead singer Erland Hjelvik at #2 on their 2012 “Top Ten Metal Frontmen (and Women) Under 30” listing. At home, KVELERTAK was declared “the best Norwegian debut of all time” by Norwegian rock authority Asbjørn Slettemark before earning the “Best Rock Album” prize – and “Best Newcomer” honors – at Norway’s GRAMMY® equivalent, The Spellemannprisen.

The Stavanger-based band has also staked a claim as one of today’s most exciting live acts, with highlights including an array of European festivals, sold out shows supporting Mastodon and a visit to Austin’s annual South by Southwest Music & Media Conference (SXSW).Furthermore, avowed Kvelertak fan Dave Grohl personally presented the band with their first Norwegian gold record during a sold out show supporting Foo Fighters in Oslo.

Kvelertak is: Erlend Hjelvik (vocals), Vidar Landa (guitars), Bjarte Lund Rolland (guitars), Maciek Ofstad (guitars), Marvin Nygaard (bass), and Kjetil Gjermundrød (drums).
