LA based Aussie rocker Meliya releases debut single/video ‘Get Out’

By on December 22, 2013

Los Angeles-based independent Aussie rocker, Meliya, has captured the attention of the music industry worldwide with her debut single Get OutGet Out is the first track to be released from Meliya’s upcoming E.P. and is an unusual mix of rock, pop and punk.

The single was produced via online file sharing in collaboration with rising record producer, Rocky Byrd, and shredder guitarist, James Grossenheider. Best described as energetic fun with attitude, Meliya’s striking cut-through voice (likened to extraordinary artists such as Alanis Morissette, Chris Cornell, Axel Rose, PJ Harvey and Dolores O’Riordan) ensures her songs are contagiously catchy.

Although Meliya has just surfaced on the music industry’s radar as a solo artist, she has performed in various alternative bands for the past 10 years in Australia and supported well-known Australian acts such as The Radiators, Killing Heidi, Grinspoon and The Butterfly Effect. Despite incorporating a strong pop element into her solo work, Meliya’s inner rocker continues to shine through with catchy guitar hooks, killer solos and super chunky power chords. Her short, sharp songwriting is complemented by lyrics that strike the hearts of listeners, no matter who they are or where they come from.

Meliya grew up on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia and studied theatre, popular music and journalism at university before joining the Australian Defence Force (ADF). She served in the ADF for six years and worked alongside Australian, New Zealand, British and U.S. soldiers, sailors, airmen/women and marines as a military journalist in Afghanistan, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand and Australia. Upon completing her service, Meliya vowed to make her dream of becoming a solo artist a reality and moved to Los Angeles, California with her husband in 2013.

The single is available online at all major digital outlets including iTunes at… and JB Hi-Fi. Hard copies will also be available for purchase via at
