Portlanders, the EDGE Magazine, AfterEllen and the LA Weekly got on board early — now the ‘Rolling Stone magazine equivalent’ for June Gay Pride month, The Advocate, has featured Susan SurfTone.
Susan SurfTone has been confirmed to play at the enormously popular Doll Factory, home of the LA Derby Dolls, in Los Angeles for the Tough Cookies vs. Diego Rollers match on September 29th. This stop will be part of a West Coast tour which also hits The Redwood Bar in downtown L.A., famed Bay Area Tiki lounge Forbidden Island in Alameda and Duff’s Garage up in Portland to kick things off.
All of this comes on the heels of a fabulous Daisy Rock guitar endorsement, a music video shot by Mike Lastra (Northwest Passage) featuring SurfTone’s new addition Seana Steele (Go-Go dancer) that debuted on AfterEllen.com, topped off with the Lesbian Bands feature in the June/Gay Pride month issue of The Advocate.
There are a few other things in the works like a Portland-centric surf music compilation called, PDX A Go-Go: Making Waves Up North, featuring bands like Wave Sauce and Seana Steele on the album cover.
SurfTone has been called ‘the female Dick Dale’ (Punk Globe) and ‘Queen of the Surf Guitar’ (Record Collector). She has approximately ten releases out on various labels internationally and is featured on numerous compilations. Shore has been her first solo album.
