Los Angeles based five-some Y LUV is thrilled to announce the May 28th release of their new EP – Take The Ride. The release features three brand new songs including the anthemic dance rock of “All I Want to Do,” the U2-meets-Simple Minds sounds of “Fire,” the dreamy synth-pop of “My Sweet Life” and the radio edit of the band’s biggest single to date, “Driftin,” which recently reached #1 on the Hype Machine chart and landed the #6 spot on We Are Hunted. Take The Ride is coming out a few months after Y LUV’s remix EP It Doesn’t Have to Make Sense, released in March via Prep School Recordings in conjunction with the Found Group. Check out the recent premiere of “If This Has an End (Shoe Scene Symphony Remix)” via Prefix now.
Y LUV is made up of Freddy Janney (Vocals, Guitar), Sam Nardella (Guitar, Vocals), Marcello Dubaz (Drums), Evan Newman (Keyboards, Vocals), and Luke Hanna (Bass, Vocals). Janney and Nardella’s roots go back to Boston where the duo attended elementary school together. After moving to the West Coast to study at the University of Southern California, they met up with Dubaz, Hanna, and Newman, solidifying the band’s line-up. Since forming, Y LUV has released a couple of EPs – How Chill Can You Let Go (2011), and It Doesn’t Have to Make Sense (2012) and they’ve racked up some impressive tour stats playing alongside The Crystal Method, Tokyo Police Club, Penguin Prison, The Knocks, and Robert DeLong among others. Just this month they joined Travis Barker, Walk The Moon and Capital Cities at USC’s Springfest. Last fall the band was hand-selected by fellow Voodoo performer AWOLNATION to perform live on the main stage at the Voodoo Festival in New Orleans. Outside Lands enlisted Y LUV to play their Afterparty at the W Hotel in 2011 which had the SF Chronicle plugging their performance and that same year they performed live for the uber-cool Art Basel in Miami.
Y LUV will continue to play out this spring and summer – check http://www.iluvyluv.com for the most up-to-date information. With the new EP Take The Ride slated for a May 28th release, the band also has a brand new music video in the works for “All I Wanna Do.” Up-and-coming creative talent David Chang (http://www.dmcpictures.com/film) will be directing the clip with additional directorial and lighting consultation from Leroy Bennett (Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, Rihanna) and they’ve enlisted actress Kelley Jakle (Pitch Perfect, Workaholics) to star.
