Last night I was invited to the residence of the General Consul of Finland. In Bel Air. With a gate where they check you in. It was fairly intimidating, but drinks were flowing and a buffet was served the hostess was gracious and eventually we settled in. The highlight, and reason for the party was a band from Finland called The Latebirds. It’s their record release here in the States and they put on a great show…the band was tight, the music was great! These guys have opened for Wilco, The Pretenders and The Jayhawks and have every right to stand alongside these bands. They’re playing at Amoeba in Hollywood tonight, so do yourself a favor and check them out! Showtime is 6pm you can learn more here:
Don’t forget that The Grand Ole Echo is back this Sunday and we’re in the Echoplex! 5:30-9pm/free/all ages only 2 more shows left! This Sunday is Craig Elkins (ex-Huffamoose), River Rouge, Maxim Ludwig and the Santa Fe Seven and Mark Lennon with his record release on the front porch! We’ve also got the lovely ladies of Cactus Tree Vintage peddling their wares and Shay Port will be doing “eye readings”…you have to see it to believe it! (pun intended) 1154 Glendale Boulevard, hope to see you all out!
