Live Video Released of Darian Reneé Performing “Gotta Be You” off Successful ‘Only The Beginning’ EP

By on January 14, 2013

A live performance video of eighteen year old female Pop/Blue Eyed Soul vocalist Darian Reneé performing “Gotta Be You” off her dynamic and astonishing Only The Beginning EP has been released on YouTube. Darian had this to say about the song, “When I wrote ‘Gotta Be You,’ it was my way of putting my heart on the line. It’s about the feeling you get when you see someone who gives you butterflies. Lyrically the song has a very honest approach and collectively, it’s more of a question hanging in the air than a love song. It is a song about a love…but it’s also a song about hope”

The performance comes from her December 20th sold out headline performance at Boise’s The Knitting Factory, and was filmed by Evan Sanchez. Darian commented on show and the video by saying, “The show was incredible! It was awesome to look out in the crowd and just see people singing the words to my songs. I love how raw this video is; it was shot right underneath me while I was singing and I feel like it really captures the heart of the song, especially since the song means so much to me.”

Upon its release, Only The Beginning quickly reached the top five on Boise’s Bandcamp Chart and the top forty on the overall Bandcamp Chart. All the tracks on the EP were written by Darian and were co-produced by Steven Palin, who provided extra instrumentation, and herself. Darian had this to say about the release, “These songs have been a long time coming and I’m really excited to share my heart and sound and really have my voice heard on this record.”

Darian Reneé has over one million views on her Youtube cover videos and along with singing she plays piano, guitar, and bass among other instruments. She has been performing around the nation since she was twelve years old while also having a consistent modeling career.
