UK EDM trio I See MONSTAS return with their new single “Circles” via Interscope/Polydor Records, available now at all digital partners. Comprised of producers Rocky and Rufio with vocals from front man Skaar, the group is a product of the UK dance scene whose progressive sound and uncompromising refusal to be pigeon-holed by any one genre has been making waves with peers and live audiences alike.
Premiering in the UK as a Zane Lowe BBC Radio 1 ‘Future Exclusive’ “Circles” sees the band continue to develop their trademark sound of soulful electronica, taking it to new heights. Skaar’s distinctive vocals transform the bass heavy undertones of the song, into a life affirming, infectious club record that demands to be played at full volume again and again.
Shot by award winning director Josh Cole, who previously directed acclaimed music videos including Rudimental’s “Right Here” and Chase & Status “Alive”, the powerful narrative of the video is brought to life by a cast that includes pivotal figures from the criminal underworld. The role of Rosco; ‘Head Gangster’ is portrayed by an actor who recently finished serving a 12 year prison sentence, while the lead role of Johnny is played by actor Frederick Schmidt, who comes fresh from his highly praised leading role in the Cannes selected film Snow in Paradise. Schmidt applied his past experiences and emotions from a troubled upbringing where he was involved in a major criminal enterprise at a young age, to bring extraordinary depth to the role of Johnny, building a compelling story that follows our hero as he navigates his way back to finding his humanity. At seven and a half minutes long, the video for “Circles” is a provocative piece of storytelling, accentuated by front man Skaar’s soaring vocals and Rocky and Rufio’s emotive yet hard hitting production
With a stellar introduction into the dance music scene after being discovered by Skrillex, I See MONSTAS released their self-titled debut EP MONSTA followed by their sophomore EPEVOLUTION where they explored a more versatile sound that quickly spread through the clubs. Having toured extensively through the UK, Europe and US with the likes of Knife Party, Nero and Chase & Status, I See MONSTAS have built up a large and loyal live following through their infectiously energetic performances- including slots at SXSW, Lollapalooza, ULTRA Music Festival, a sold out performance at NYC’s Webster Hall and last month at Mad Decent’s Block Party.
