Approaching Troy formed in 2013, emerging from frontman Jake Salazar’s initial solo project and quickly developing into a cohesive and ambitious 5-piece intent on making their own mark on the rich musical history of Long Island.
Drawing influence from some of the area’s finest – including Brand New, Glassjaw and Taking Back Sunday – Approaching Troy combines elements of the early 00’s alternative scene with melodic punk overtones and finely executed dual vocal interplay.
A combination of the success of debut single, ’Star-Crossed Lovers’ and a vocal and ever-increasing local fan base, Approaching Troy quickly began earning their stripes with a series of energetic and engaging live shows. In a town where the quality of a live performance has the ability to make or break a young band, Approaching Troy embraced the opportunity, and soon earned a cross-section of high profile support slots which have since seen them open for the likes of The Ataris, Hawthorne Heights & Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.
2015 continues to develop into Approaching Troy’s most constructive year to date, with a strong response to their latest release and a second tour of the year imminent.
