Low Cut Connie Announce New Album ‘Call Me Sylvia’ and Tour Dates

By on September 14, 2012

It is with proud paternal hands that the boys in Low Cut Connie hold up to the skies the wrinkled and innocent lion cub that is their new record and its accompanying US tour.   Call Me Sylvia is a pungent slice of rock n roll pastry – full of bewitching fruits and rich sultry custards, wrapped in a moist crust.  It comes hot on the heels of their critically-acclaimed debut, Get Out the Lotion, which was lauded by the likes of Rolling Stone, NPR (Fresh Air top 10 album of 2011), NY Times, Magnet, and the legendary critics Robert Christgau and Dave Marsh…amongst many other bribed individuals.  Building on the frothy boogie-driven spunk of the first record, Call Me Sylvia is a classic ghoulash of humor, pathos, tenderness, and balls-out whoop-de-doo.  These No-Goodniks concocted this scoop of sonic wizardry in the basement of a sausage factory in Tolono, Illinois.  There they toiled for two weeks, grinding their sensuous cuts into a delicate skin, manufacturing this magnificent long-player.

The paths of New Jersey piano-pounding hell-raiser Adam Weiner and Birmingham UK’s hit machine Dan “Swampmeat” Finnemore collided one fateful night in a gnarly warehouse in the Digbeth district of Birmingham.  After being stuck in a freight elevator for 4 hours with nothing but guitars and a duffel bag of booze, they emerged as brothers from across the pond.  They both shared a deep love for Jerry Lee Lewis, James Brown’s hair, the genius of Chevy Chase, and a plate of well-seasoned chops.  Each with a huge bag of hits, they decided to ambush the rock n roll scene like a pair of songwriting panthers.  With tracks such as “Boozophilia”, “Sister Mary”,  “Don’t Cry Baby Blue”, and “(No More) Wet T-shirt Contests”, the boys really paint a rainbow of human emotion.  With a hot-blooded troupe of gutterpups behind them, Adam and Dan formed Low Cut Connie with a desire to titillate and massage the throbbing cultural masses in unknown ways.
If you allow it into your life, Call Me Sylvia will touch your heart and caress your flesh.  This is an album that will be there for you the morning after.

Low Cut Connie….a new boogie for all mankind.
