LUKE RATHBORNE INCLUDED IN THE L MAGAZINE‘S “8 BANDS YOU NEED TO HEAR”

NYC SHOW THIS SATURDAY, MAY 7

“Luke Rathborne is a young performer with massive talent.  His two 2011 EPs, Dog Years and I Can Be One are solid expositions of his intense songwriting capabilities.” – iTunes

“With his soulful lyrics and brooding aesthetic, this emerging musician has perfected the delicate art of dark pop.” – NYLON

“Hailing from the deep woods of Brunswich, Maine, his voice occupies a wide range of sparse and haunting settings; from sad bastard bar ballads to wispy folk tunes, he succeeds in turning otherwise stubborn melancholy to the kind of comforting intimacy I used to go to Elliot Smith to find.” – The Deli

Last time we checked in about Luke Rathborne, it was around the release of his Dog Years and I Can Be One EPs.  He was fresh off of opening for The Strokes in front of tens of thousands of people and then opening for Noah and The Whale in New York and Los Angeles.

Just a couple of week later, we have some more exciting news we wanted to share with you and figured now is as good a time as ever.  The other day, The L Magazine included Luke in its annual “8 Bands You Need to Hear” piece!  Luke Rathborne’s music is reaching more and more ears and people are responding.  Take a listen to some of Luke’s music below and let us know what you think!

If you’ll be in NYC this weekend, come to Pianos Saturday night to see Luke and his band at 11pm.  Flyer below and we hope to see you there!  Also below is live clip of Luke Rathborne’s unreleased “ENO” to give a feel for the live shows.  Take our word, they’re a blast.
