Maze is a Bulgarian band producing an Alternative / New-metal sound backed by melodious, daring vocals and dynamic flowing keyboards. “Wonderfully catching refrains and interesting homogenous sounds achieved through the consecutive stepping in of the instruments” as featured in the April edition of the Rolling Stone Magazine – 2011 and also rated their latest CD “Cell 7034” a 3.5 out of 4. Indeed impressive!!
Maze is heavily influenced by bands such as Korn, Metallica, Linkin Park, Papa Roach and Rammstein. Media and fans alike describe their performances as “a night in which Limp Bizkit meets Metallica” and further described by the Telegraph Newspaper, 2010. In 2008 Dimitar Stefanov – vocals, Yavor Kostadinchev – guitar, Stefan Stefanov – keyboards, Kiril Iliev – drums and Vasil Andreev – bass, got together to form Maze and in the last few years have earned them honors of becoming a household name in Bulgaria. More recently, Maze took part in the “Spirit of Burgas” festival in August 2011, which was nominated as one of the top 10 Best Overseas Festival by UK Festival Awards. Maze was selected to headline the “Na Tamno” stage on the first day of the event, alongside other stages with performers such as Moby, Suicidal Tendencies, Skunk Anansie and Deftones.
In January 2011 Maze put out their first video debut with the single “Delete” and within two months the song was broadcast consistently on a number of popular Bulgarian TV programs: T-Rock, BBT, DIEMA and local radio. Maze promoted the release of their album, Cell 7034 in RBF Hall on 16 April 2011 and was a huge success. The album features 10 songs, including the singles Delete, Everything Ours and For Myself which won the first place in the “Kamenitza Rock 40” chart of radio Z-Rock where it held strong remaining in the top for 50 weeks. The album was an immediate success and was acclaimed by the critics and fans alike. Maze continues to be one of the hottest and most modern new bands in Bulgaria and have expanded their horizons with appearances in Cyprus, Greece, Turkey and Romania.
With this success, comes the signing to Rage On Stage Management which plans to bring the band to the USA and into the studio where they will begin the recording process of a new album and then back again in July of 2013 to tour. Yavor Kostadinchev (Guitarist) explains “It’s extremely important to showcase our talents in the USA. I feel that once our recording is complete, getting us in front of the fans is the next step in our career and the only way to do that is touring in a country that is known for breaking bands”. James says ” Maze has got the musicianship and writing skills to get them where they want to go. The band is hungry and motivated … it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for in a new band to round out our roster”.
