Following her collaboration with Wolfgang Gartner on the single “Overdose” (April 2013), Denmark’s glam-pop queen Medina seeped into our veins with her addictive single “Junkie” from her forthcoming sophomore album release, Forever due out on Ultra Music this December. In anticipation of the album Medina is dropping a “Junkie” Remix Package, out October 8th via Ultra Music. Danish producers NONSENS crafted a banging trapstyle remix of the shiny electro-pop number, as premiered on The Music Ninja. Additional remixes come courtesy of funky Danish techno progenitor Daniel Rothmann and Danish electro-pop group Odd Collection, and the remix package is available via iTunes.
The Singer/Songwriter/Model/Actress/and All Around IT Girl, Medina has experienced massive worldwide success with her US debut album Welcome To Medina, released in September 2011 which spawned the international hit single “You & I.” The single sold more than 1 million worldwide, and has over 20 million views on YouTube, while in the UK, the single ranked as A-list at BBC Radio 1 and entered the US Billboard Chart’s, Hot Dance Airplay at #6. The follow up single “Addiction” topped the Billboard Hot Dance Chart at #1.
While sitting on the top of the charts is all very exciting to Medina, there’s a sheer honesty with her that resonates beyond the clubs on a much larger level. “Junkie is a song about how addictive love and being in love is! The way you can loose your mind when you don’t get what you want or get it how you want it to go… like a junkie fiending for drugs.” She continues, “I can’t write about champagne bottles and dancing on tables. That’s just not me. I have a lot of art, and the way I write is quite sensitive.” affirms Medina.
Look out for Medina’s upcoming Forever LP on Ultra Music this winter.

Her honesty is something her fans truly admire and respect as you don’t find that often from artists who’ve achieved massive success. Her realness is perhaps why she is the #1 MOST Googled Artist 3 years in a row, has won 3 consecutive MTV Awards for Best Danish Act, and has received more radio airplay this year in her native Denmark than any other artist, all things she hopes will continue to translate with her US fans.
While she has been waiting patiently for the album to be released in the US, having those US fans already makes it something worth waiting for… She adds, “to read their daily comments about how much they just cant wait any longer… #speechless”.
Since her 2010 release, Velkommen til Medina (Welcome to Medina), Medina has ruled the Danish music scene as one of the top-selling female artists to date. But even though Denmark is the artist’s hometown as well as the primary market for Medina’s success (she has sold over 600,000 singles and 400,000 albums to date), it is by far not the only part of the world where she is known.
Medina, a pop artist with a dance and R&B influence, already has a large European following, she is Denmark’s biggest and most celebrated female artist, a multi-platinum selling performer, who has graced the cover of Elle magazine and has won multiple awards in her native Denmark, including the MTV Award for “Best Danish Act” for the last three years in a row, which is record breaking. She has also won the Fashion Icon Award in both 2010 and 2011, 8 Danish Music Awards (Equivalent to US Grammy) and more. There is an artistic depth to Medina that clearly separates her from most other female pop icons.
Medina is set to conquer the U.S. music charts with her forthcoming US debut album release for Ultra Records, “Forever” this November. Within five months of its European release, the album reached Gold status in Germany and her current summer tour is already sold out in Denmark.
Not only is Medina a highly successful pop artist, she is also the face of many established brands such as Reebok, Schweppes Lemon and Jewelry line Krantz & Ziegler. She has also appeared on the cover of Elle Denmark twice, along with other female and lifestyle magazine covers most recently Eurowoman, making her highly suitable for anything fashion-related. With her foot well in the fashion world door, there is undoubtedly more to come.
