Alternative rock trio MENEW has announced that their new full-length album MOTHER NATURE will be available worldwide Tuesday, April 8 (digitally via Tunecore and physically via their own RedCore Music Group). To celebrate its release, the band has confirmed an album release show at Los Angeles’ Viper Room on Wednesday, April 9, alongside local artists Petty Cash and Golden State. Ticket info for this show and additional Canadian dates is available here: http://menew.com/tour.html.
Thanks to the substantial success of their 2012 debut album WIDE AWAKE HELLO, the Toronto-based brothers—Shade (Vocals/Guitar), Key (Piano/Synthesizers) and Nathan Samuel Phillip (Drums/Vocals)–and touring member Wilfur (Bass Guitar) have already achieved several notable accolades in their career, including being shortlisted for four Grammy nominations, a performance on CBS’ “The Late Show with David Letterman,” national tours and performances alongside U2, Stone Temple Pilots, Filter and Fuel, and song inclusions on major networks including NBC, CBS, MTV, ESPN and independent films worldwide. Now with the release of their follow-up MOTHER NATURE, MENEW is poised to take their career to the next level.
The band recently released a music video for the new album’s title track “Mother Nature.” The video has been viewed over 408,000 times on YouTube: http://youtu.be/zi13yjl0tIk. Directed by Lyle Christie and shot in San Francisco, the video takes a direct look at the problems with today’s society and media with a comedic undertone. With hypnotic guitar hooks and anthemic synths, “Mother Nature” serves as powerful lead-off single with a profound lyrical message.
MENEW (pronounced MENU) infuse instrumental intricacy into alternative rock. Whether it’s a subdued piano hum or an anthemic guitar-fueled refrain, MENEW remain unpredictable, discarding all notions of formula or convention. For MOTHER NATURE, the band locked themselves in their own Mission Control Studio in the outskirts of Hamilton, Canada with long-time producer/engineer Christian Mock (3 Doors Down, 10 Years, Flyleaf). The brothers wrote and arranged every note together in the same room, capturing a raw energy vital to their sound. The result is a collection of 13 dynamic and diverse tracks.
Once recorded, Grammy Award-winning producer and engineer Jack Joseph Puig (John Mayer, Green Day, U2) mixed MOTHER NATURE at Ocean Way Studios in Los Angeles, with mastering by Howie Weinberg (Muse, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana).
Inspired by the ever-changing conditions in MOTHER NATURE, the forward-thinking rockers have incorporated this theme into their first-of-its-kind artwork. Deluxe physical versions of the album feature innovative ever-changing artwork where fans can scan QR codes–which take place of the album artwork–using a QR code scan/reader application available for free in the App Store and view the digital artwork online with a mobile device. Using 24hr continuous live still cameras automatically uploading photos online daily, the nature scapes (album artwork) can be followed as they grow throughout their lifespan. Fans can see the artwork change daily and watch Mother Nature take her course. The CD also features a bonus track, which can be scanned and downloaded to your phone or device via a QR code inside the album booklet.
