Richard Christy, Tim “Ripper” Owens, Jason Suecof and Steve DiGiorgio once again joined forces to bring to life Christy’s latest body of work, Cold Winds on Timeless Days. The writing process for the new album actually began while the band was mixing their 2010 debut. Fans who have yet to see The Ocean live can catch a preview online now. The band has released a live video from their outstanding performance at this year’s Summer Breeze festival in Germany. Watch the band perform the final song of their set, The Origin of God, from the album Heliocentric, HERE.

GLORIOR BELLI: French Black Metallers Premiere Third New Track Through Pitchfork Today French black metal legion, GLORIOR BELLI, premiere the title track off their upcoming new full-length, The Great Southern Darkness, through Pitchfork. Check it out at THIS LOCATION.

The Great Southern Darkness is scheduled for a North America release on September 27, 2011 via Metal Blade Records.

Formed in the suburbs of Paris during the close of 2002, what began as a noxious duo soon became an untamable beast, acting as a beacon for everyone looking to free themselves of the influence of the Demiurge. Lyrics and themes explored throughout the years reveal a sincere inclination for rebel-ism and a sense of poetry. Today, GLORIOR BELLI has garnered a stellar reputation in the extreme music community for mixing desert rock textures with the brutal, ominous, doom-laden vibe typical of black metal.

Rose Funeral: new track streaming exclusively on Stereokiller Starting today, Stereokiller is hosting the exclusive premiere of the title track off Gates of Punishment, the new full-length album from Cincinnati, OH metal act Rose Funeral. Check out the track HERE.

Gates of Punishment is a fitting progression of the band’s dark and foreboding sound. Guest vocal appearances from Kate Alexander and Steve Tucker (Morbid Angel) add to the dark atmosphere that is created throughout the album. Seven string guitars tuned to drop A, haunting melodies, insane blasts and enough groove to keep heads banging will make this one of the heaviest releases of 2011.

Vocalist/guitarist Ryan Gardner adds, “We had the greatest time recording Gates of Punishment. It is definitely a HUGE step for Rose Funeral. I can honestly say this album just crushes any release we have done. We are looking to turn heads and drop jaws with this album. Gates of Punishment is filled with intense blasts, fast paced solos, melodic harmonies, dark chords, pissed off vocals, and harsh breakdowns. This is the sound I have been searching for with Rose Funeral, and I couldn’t be happier. All I can say is that with the guys I have, it will be a huge climb in sound every album from now on.”

NIGHTFALL release new video clip for “Astron Black” exclusively via Metal Blade TV! Athenian Symphonic Death Metallers NIGHTFALL have released the video clip for the title track of their latest album Astron Black!

Surf over to Metal Blade TV HERE to check out Astron Black!

Comments director Achilleas Gatsopoulos: “We decided not to go safe and continue with the shadow puppet approach for the second video too, even though there is still a lot of space for experimentation within that. Instead, I came up with an entirely different style that would add yet another facet to the complex task of visualising Nightfall’s music.

GWAR-B-Q VENUE CHANGED TO NATIONAL THEATRE In a stunning display of cat-like agility, Slave Pit today announced a last -second venue change to their highly anticipated “GWAR-B-Q“, switching the venue from Hadad’s Water Park to Richmond’s beautiful National Theater.

Henrico County would not issue the proper licenses for the event to run legally despite Slave Pit’s intense efforts to placate the authorities.

Slave Pit’s Dave Brockie had this to say about the debacle-
“We feel we have been treated in an unjust manner. There have been music festivals for years in Henrico County with no problem OR licenses. We jumped through hoops, hired cops, made safety plans…and at the last second they chose not to give us the permits.”

“I woke up today and heard this. I was just about to put a bullet through my head when we got a call from the National Theater. They had originally booked some loser from “America’s Got Talent”, but he cancelled…so the National saved the day for us and agreed to open their doors to the event. As you read this we are scrambling madly to accommodate all of the acts and events we had planned, and present the full spectacle of the GWAR-B-Q.”

Nergal featured on the cover of Newsweek in Poland Behemoth front man Nergal continues to garner huge amounts of press in his homeland of Poland. This time, he’s been interviewed by Poland’s Newsweek magazine and is featured on the cover. The article spans six entire pages and is titled “God, Horror and Country”.

In other news, Behemoth took home an award from Metal Hammer Germany in the “maximum metal” category. All the categories and winners can be seen at HERE.

Behemoth and Grupa 13’s latest creative vision will be for the song, Lucifer. The song is the final track on Evangelion and clocks in at over eight minutes long and is one of the most atmospheric and foreboding songs in Behemoth’s vast catalogue. The video was shot in Wroclaw, Poland and stars the song’s guest vocalist, Maciej Malenczuk. The video is currently being edited and will see a worldwide premiere in September. Behemoth set the bar high with their last video, which was also a Grupa 13 collaboration, Alas, Lord is Upon Me.
