Dirtnap Records is releasing a new Mind Spiders LP, entitled Inhumanistic, today!  Mind Spiders is the critically-acclaimed new project from Marked Men front man, Mark Ryan, who also produced Inhumanistic

Mind Spiders are back with their 3rd album in 3 years!  Featuring a streamlined lineup of Mark Ryan on vox/guitar/synth, Mike Throneberry on drums, Daniel Fried on bass, Peter Salisbury on synth – Inhumanistic finds the band going in a slightly more stripped down direction than previous efforts, with influences ranging from Devo’s Freedom Of Choice and Wall Of Voodoo, to old horror movies (the song “Electric Things” is about the movie “From Beyond”, for example).

Praise for Mind Spiders:

“The first half is very gritty and loud, and the second half is more like 80s synth pop and new wave.”NPR

“That sci-fi instinct to melt rock’n’roll into synths is at least, thematically, a good fit for Ryan. He named the band after Fritz Leiber’s 1961 sci-fi collection The Mind Spider and Other Stories, and he’s said that he loves Brian Eno. On Mind Spiders, he communicated those interests by including the word “spider” in nearly every song for an “old sci-fi movie plot” effect…fun persists in the album’s absurdly infectious hooks without being marred by concepts or meaning.”Pitchfork

“The formula is fantastic: ’90s pop-punk’s structures (hello, Blink-182’s “Girl at the Rock Show”) meets ’60s surf pop’s persistent beat (hello, the Surfaris’ “Wipeout”) meets ’80s new wave and post-punk’s synths meets modern skate-punk’s ethos (think Wavves, Bass Drum of Death, and another of our recent First Spins, FIDLAR).”Spin
“…this Texas-based band delivers guitar-ridden rock tracks that are a total mind rush.  They’re a little bit garage band-rock, a little bit lo-fi, and we can’t get enough”Nylon

“Just like their raucous live shows, their just-released sophomore set, “Meltdown,” features a booming bottom end driven by dual drummers.”New York Times
