Hashed Out

Propelled by the energy of a young band’s first outings and the confidence only a ragtag group of seasoned vets can display, Montreal, Québec-based hardcore outfit HASHED OUT comes forward with its first-self titled EP. Hashed Out will be released as a one-sided 12″ on Montreal’s own independent DIY label L’Œil du tigre on June 10, 2014. Featuring members of Barn Burner, Fifth Hour Hero, Black Ships, Bionic and more, the band’s debut offers up six blasts of metallic hardcore fury in the vein of Catharsis, Deathreat, and Eyehategod.

After honing their craft on the road and supporting touring bands in their hometown of Montreal, this is some of the fiercest, fastest and angriest material released by all individual members. With a firm grasp of its hardcore roots and metal heritage, and without ever sacrificing a single ounce of punk ethos, Hashed Out is headed straight for the throat and having a ton of fun while doing so. Walls of distortion, severe d-beat punishment and a pissed off yet refreshingly original take on vocal duties are the tools of its trade. Poised to reinvigorate North America’s DIY attitude, a line taken from opening track “Spent Shell” rings especially true: “Where’s your rage? Where’s the fire that drove you before?”
L’Œil du tigre will release the Hashed Out EP as a one-sided 12″ record on June 10, 2014. It can be purchased through the label’s webstore along with its other fantastic punk and hardcore releases:
Church of the Riff: “Hashed Out is a good ol’ fashioned crust/d-beat band that would be just as happy to shake your hand as crack your skull.”

Hashed Out formed in 2013 inside the hellish frozen bowels of Montreal. They took the local punk scene by the throat as soon they tore their way out of the wombs of their past (and current) endeavors. The band’s collective history includes (but isn’t limited to) time spent in acts such as Barn Burner, Bionic, Mi Amore, Fifth Hour Hero, Black Ships, The Forum, Dig It Up, Prevenge… Just to name a few.
Having already spent a respectable amount of time on the road honing their craft and supporting touring bands in their hometown, Hashed Out are about to drop their first self-titled 12″ EP in June 2014 on Montreal’s independent DIY label L’Œil du tigre. Expect them.

Hashed Out is:

Alex Cartier – Vocals

Mathieu Guilbault – Bass, Vocals

Jean Bélanger – Guitar, Vocals

Kevin Keegan – Guitar, Vocals

Taylor Freund – Drums
