Monuments release ‘Origin of Escape’ lyric video; new album Jul.8 on Century Media

By on June 3, 2014

This summer Britain’s MONUMENTS will release their sophomore album, THE AMANUENSIS the follow up to 2012’s GNOSIS. The band has just released a lyric video for the song “Origin Of Escape” you can check out here:

The title of the album was inspired by author David Mitchell’s novel, “Cloud Atlas”. The complex story lines are the perfect analog for MONUMENTS. Musically the group weaves in and out of themes, motifs, and professor-like note calculations with graceful ease while lyrically THE AMANUENSIS comes from a very different place. “The album is about the Samsara cycle,” reveals guitarist John Browne. “The cyclical existence of life that we are all bound to.”

The story of THE AMANUENSIS is divided into 11 chapters whose titles read as follows:

1. I, The Creator

2. Origin Of Escape

3. Atlas

4. Horcrux

5. Garden Of Sankhara

6. The Alchemist

7. Quasimodo

8. Saga City

9. Jinn

10. I, The Destroyer

11. Samsara

MONUMENTS recently concluded a short run with Dioramic and will now embark on a full European tour with Protest The Hero, starting with DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL, right around the release of THE AMANUENSIS. Afterwards the band will come to North America for the very first time together with Glass Cloud and Scale The Summit.
