Already receiving steady attention and BBC Radio play for their early EPs, it was at the 2010 Glastonbury Festival that Tom Williams & The Boat truly broke out, playing an extraordinary 5 sets as finalists of the festivals own “Emerging Talent Competition.” They self-released their debut LP Too Slow in February 2011, on their own Wire Boat Recordings to critical praise in the UK, leaving anticipation for their forthcoming follow up high. The band began work on their second album, Teenage Blood in March 2011, recording in their long time HQ – a working brewery, in the heart of the Kent countryside. As with their debut album, BBC engineer Simon Askew was yet again behind the mixing desk.
“My Bones” began its life in early 2011 as a Leonard Cohen-esque demo, developing into a fully-fledged recording. With a rigid rhythmic focus to the track, and with dark lyrics, “My Bones” continues the theme of jilted love touched on in previous Tom Williams & The Boat singles, typical of the new album’s dwelling on love lost.
In keeping with the band’s homegrown ethics and independent approach, Tom Williams & The Boat has partnered with PledgeMusic for the production and release of Teenage Blood. The band wanted to offer their fans the chance to be intimately connected to the album process from the very beginning by offering them creative collectables and exclusive experiences of their choosing as a reward for their loyal support. After five years as a band, encompassing five EPs and two albums, Tom Williams & The Boat might appear fully-formed, but with the release of their second album, Teenage Blood, they’ve only just beginning to reveal their true colors.
