“Mother Falcon’s classical chops fuel a sound that soars with the grandiosity of Arcade Fire at its most anthemic.” – NPR Music
Mother Falcon is carving out its own niche in orchestral indie rock with You Knew, a dynamic and infectious new record that is a true expression of the band’s expertly layered instrumentation. An excellent example of this is “Pink Stallion”, an uplifting track that you can hear and share NOW.
For a limited time you can also immerse yourself in the entirety of this self-released and crowd-funded album on NPR’s First Listen where it is now streaming in full.
You can also pre-order the album now by contributing to Mother Falcon’s Indiegogo campaign, now in its final days as the band prepares for the release of You Knew as well as their summer residencies in New York (June) and LA (August).
The young group – which is comprised by a rotating group of 15 to 20 musicians and boasts three cellos, six violins, horns a plenty, several pianos, a bassoon and a glockenspiel – has developed a cult following in their native Austin, receiving as many accolades for their innovative film scoring as for their electric live rock club performances.
Recently signed to Red Ryder Entertainment, the band is excited to share a booking agency with Andrew Bird, The Magnetic Fields, Sharon Van Etten and more as they continue to grow as a band. In just three years together, Mother Falcon has crafted a signature soundscape with their blending of traditional rock elements and whirling horns with strings that dominate and dance behind emotive vocal turns, balancing the distinctive croon of Tamir Kalifa against ethereal harmonies between Nick Gregg and Claire Puckett.
