Netherfriends release “Netherfriends Does Nilsson” for free download, continues eternal tour!

By on September 9, 2011
Netherfriends spent the last year travelling from Florida to Maine, California to Alaska on the 50 Songs 50 States touring adventure, and completed the goal that began last April in Philadelphia and ended in Hawaii this spring.

Continuing the frenetic pace of recording and releasing music, this week Netherfriends released the fruits of his latest sonic project, Netherfriends Does Nilsson, for free download. An album of Netherfriends songs composed entirely of Harry Nilsson samples, Netherfriends Does Nilsson is a truly unique psychedelic pop experiment.
After the completion of his ambitious 50 Songs 50 States project, Netherfriends released the first collection of recordings from the tour, Angry East Coast via Cellar Hits complete with an eight-page mini-magazine detailing some of the tour exploits in journals and photos and has posted the first of the Midwest songs on Netherfriends’ Facebook. Listen to the track that kicks off the mus ic from the project, “Philadelphia,” and believe Shawn Rosenblatt when he sings “I’ll take the long road to prove what I’m showing you.”

Shawn Rosenblatt (Netherfriends) on Alap
This is not a typical Netherfriends release. The recording of this album was something I did for a week during Christmas because I don’t celebrate and I was bored out of my mind!! I had been working hard on the 50 state songs and needed a short break. I did one song a day and was inspired after playing a similar sounding set at a yoga studio. I figured since the music was so easy and fun to make that I could record one session a day for a week and release it. I think the music should be listened to while relaxing or doing work. Maybe since the pieces are named after the days of the week, a listener could listen to one piece a day as a way to maybe mediate or relax. Easy listening d00ds.
