Vancouver based hip-hop act Swollen Members were written off by the music industry. Early albums like “Bad Dreams” “Balance”, “Monsters In The Closet” saw Swollen Members shoot to the top of the charts with Platinum success and countless industry accolades, including Juno Awards (the Canadian version of a Grammy), and Much Music Video awards. The group was reaping all the rewards of having a hit single (“Breathe” featuring Nelly Furtado), and shows continued to sell out across the country. However, behind the scenes the group’s behavior had deteriorated into an abyss of self-destructing drug use and hedonism that threatened to tear everything apart everything they had built. They returned to reclaim their place at the top of the hip-hop scene with the release of their 2011 Juno nominated album “Dagger Mouth”.
Now Swollen Members are back with their eighth studio album, “Beautiful Death Machine”, a record that preserves and strengthens the group’s musical legacy with their signature brand of dark, sinister, spellbinding hip-hop.
Lead emcee Madchild utilized the momentum that Swollen Members had created with “Dagger Mouth” and went full force with his solo career, releasing his debut album “Dope Sick” in 2012, which debuted at #3 on the Canadian Billboard charts. Madchild spent two months on tour with Tech N9ne to support the album.
