This fall, Amber (guitar, piano, vocals) is creating unique new arrangements of her songs accompanied by Grammy-nominated Deoro – Dave Eggar (cello, vocals), Ariel Dela Portilla (bass), and Chuck Palmer (drums) – at the Pro-Arts Educational series in Virginia in addition to tour dates and festivals.
At the TEDx convention in Kansas City earlier this summer, Amber gave a glimpse into the new touring and recording arrangement with Dave Eggar and percussionist Max ZT. Watch a video of the performance HERE
This new musical direction is also evident on her latest release, Sessions From The 17th Ward, available October 2, 2012 on Chesky Records. The album features Dave Eggar (cello), Tim Snider (violin) and Chuck Palmer (percussion) and was recorded live in HD Binaural+ around one microphone at St. Elias Church in Brooklyn, NY.
About Amber Rubarth:
At 21 years old, Amber Rubarth taught herself to write songs and began playing open mics and recording, almost immediately receiving over 1.5 million listens on MySpace through word of mouth alone. She moved from Nevada to New York City and was named #1 Best of NYC Songwriter by Deli Magazine in 2010. That same year she won the grand prize in NPR’s Mountain Stage New Song Contest with her song “Letter From My Lonelier Self”.
The prize included recording an album with Jacquire King (Tom Waits, Kings of Leon, Norah Jones), an experience that Amber likened to “a dream come true.”
Her fourth album A Common Case of Disappearing further rooted her as her own artist by highlighting raw, vulnerable songwriting against a driving band. Released in 2011, the album debuted at #13 on iTunes Songwriter charts and features duets with Jason Reeves and Jason Mraz.
