After a year of extensive touring with multiple sold-out shows Northern Beaches-based psych/reggae-rock band, Ocean Alley, have just released their self-funded sophomore EP ‘In Purple’ featuring most recent single ‘Muddy Water’.

‘In Purple’ combines reggae-roots and urban-dub grooves likened to Blue King Brown, Bad Brains and The Roots melded with the lo-fi surf-rock vibes of The Growlers, WAVVES and Goons Of Doom.

Recorded and produced at Sydney’s Studios 301 with Callum Howell (Carmada, Smaal Cats), the band’s front man Baden Donegal described ‘In Purple’ as – “Fairly organic in terms of the finished product and essentially its recorded how we jam and play it live. We all enjoy music which has a more raw and honest sound so we try and have that same feel with our own music as well.”

In support of ‘In Purple’, Ocean Alley have announced that they will be embarking on an East Coast run with dates confirmed in Sydney, Newcastle, Brisbane, Byron Bay, Gold Coast, Wollongong and Melbourne.

Following on from the EP tour the band will perform at boutique festival, Lost Paradise, alongside Jamie XX, Angus & Julia Stone, The Jungle Giants and Four Tet, which takes place over New Years Eve on the NSW Central Coast.

‘In Purple’ is now available to purchase via iTunes
