Of Spire & Throne

Edinburgh doom act OF SPIRE & THRONE will release new EP TOLL OF THE WOUND on May 13, 2014 in collaboration with New York label Broken Limbs Recordings. The highly anticipated followup to 2012’s standalone Vagary, Toll of the Wound will be available on vinyl (300 copies), CD, and cassette. The thirty-minute slab of Scottish sludge-doom was mastered by the legendary James Plotkin.

Of Spire & Throne continue to improve and totally impress. For me they are up there with Conan as one of the best UK doom sludge outfits currently crushing skulls.
– Ave Noctum

The thing i dig about this band the most is their sound. It’s heavy, crushing and raw. No digital mambo-jambo here. No polished production or whatsoever. Just a pure set of guitars-bass-drum, played very intensely in order to crush us and to that add the growling cavernous voice of Ali Lauder that will make you shiver on every word vomited by his throat. The way doom should sound.
