Only You Release Applying Myself / Love Is Making Me Tired 7″ On White Iris Records

Only You is the starry-eyed combination of surf, soul & pop brought to
you from the heart of Californian singer/songwriter Rachel Fannan. In
this debut single release Applying Myself / Love Is Making Me Tired,
out today on White Iris Records (FIDLAR, Electric Guest, Best Coast),
Only You combines vintage tones and rich harmonies to induce joy
struck tears of nostalgia.
“Applying Myself” is an angst driven anthem of freedom and surrender.
From a shimmering race of percussion to the heart throbbing dig of
guitars, the listener canon balls into a rocking lament. “Love Is
Making Me Tired” is an ode to the perils of lust. Delivered with a
smoke and swag, Fannan’s confession of desire dances through
a landscape of guitar jabs and chime.
Fannan created Only You after taking leave of her former band,
San Francisco psych rockers Sleepy Sun. Through Only You, she
explores (with a little help from Micayla Grace of Leopold & His Fiction)
a world of music inspired by the surf tones of the late 50’s, the hip
possessing rhythms of groups like the Zombies & the Beatles, while
casting lines at other legends like the explosive Brenda Lee, the
seductive David Bowie & the sweetly harmonized Everly Brothers.
