OUR MOUNTAIN TO RECORD DEBUT ALBUM

Upcoming NY Shows, New Demo of “Spit Her Down”

– New York City-based OUR MOUNTAIN is set to begin recording their debut album later this month with producer Nick Stumpf (French Kicks, Caveman) at Marcata Studios (Walkmen, Swans, Die! Die Die!) in upstate New York.

Originally conceived by vocalist/guitarist Matthew Hutchinson and drummer Michael Noonan, the Melbourne, Australia natives began Our Mountain after relocating to the US in late 2009 and adding multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Abbey Lee and bassist Thomas Hammer to their lineup. The four-piece has since been performing in the city and throughout Europe garnering press attention for what Faster Louder says is “a raw, loose, endearingly imperfect and unpolished, emotionally provocative and an absolute viewing necessity.”

Nick understands what we’re going for, capturing violent energy in a bottle, so tracking live to tape at Marcata makes perfect sense,” says Hutchinson. “It’s essentially music vs. poetry, we really made a conscious effort to write this record for ourselves.”

Fans will have a chance to hear some of the new songs when Our Mountain bookends their studio time with shows at Public Assembly tonight, Wednesday, May 16 and at Bowery Electric on Thursday, May 13. A demo version of the new song “Spit Her Down” can be heard here.

The guys are really on their way up. They definitely have a very dark side and remind me at times of bands such as Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen and Bauhaus.”
