Paper + Plastick Records has released a brand-new digital graphic novel to add to its expanding series of comic titles. Doc Red is a three-issue limited series, and you can read a description right below:
Doc Red follows Dr. Ellen Redinbaugh and her nurse and daughter-in-law, Hattie Redinbaugh, on a treacherous trail through the Arizona Territory to the gold mines of Bellville, California in 1862. An odyssey denied even a day of peace, the Redinbaugh widows are assaulted by thieves, accidentally run afoul of a Confederate conspiracy to take over Arizona, and find themselves back on the gallows after thinking they’d already slipped the noose.
Soldiers. Bandits. Apaches. Cash Only.
There’s no insurance in the Old West for Dr. Ellen Redinbaugh.
Doc Red #1 is currently available for free download in the Paper + Plastick webstore. The 42-page novel is definitely longer than most of P+P’s other titles so far – series such as Kill the Wonderhawks, Perfect Teeth, Exit Interview, 50 States and Story/Song have all been somewhat shorter in length.
Paper + Plastick’s digital titles have totaled thousands upon thousands of free downloads. The label began expanding more into comic books in 2011, publishing original titles for free online and for affordable prices in print. Paper + Plastick’s publishing arm has continued to expand in 2013, and all of the label’s releases can be seen here.
