Pentimento and Paper + Plastick Records are excited to announce today the release of a new Pentimento EP, titled Inside The Sea. The four-song EP will be released digitally and on 10″ vinyl via Paper + Plastick on October 22, 2013.

Below, you can check out the tracklisting, album art and a statement from the band. The Buffalo, NY-based punk/indie/emo quartet also released a video featuring some information from the band about the release and shots of the group recording Inside The Sea in the studio!

Inside The Sea was recorded by Jay Zubricky (Every Time I Die, Kid Gorgeous), mixed by Vince Ratti (Circa Survive, The Wonder Years, Title Fight) and mastered by Stephen Egerton (Descendents, Less Than Jake, MxPx).

The announcement of this new release comes just two days after Pentimento announced that it would be supporting one of the most highly anticipated tours of the fall. The band will be heading out on a cross-country trek for over a month with Real Friends, Mixtapes and Forever Came Calling. All of the dates can be seen below and more information about the tour can be seen at PropertyOfZack.com. The tour winds through Gainesville, FL, for a Pentimento appearance at Fest 12 as well.

Inside The Sea is the follow-up to Pentimento’s wonderfully received self-titled debut full-length record. The album was released online for free in November, then re-released on vinyl by Paper + Plastick in March. The record grew the band’s fanbase exponentially and was praised nearly universally by music critics. AbsolutePunk.net wrote, “Pentimento [is] a favorite to truly make a name for themselves in 2013” in their 8.3/10 review, and with Inside The Sea, it seems as though that prediction will be correct. The new EP sees Pentimento expanding upon its core sound while exploring new sounds, sometimes louder and sometimes softer. This band is more dynamic than it has ever been before.

The group released the following statement to accompany the announcement of Inside The Sea:

If I had to say something about the sound of the band at this point, or what people can expect from this EP – the only thing that comes to mind is that this music sounds urgent. It all happened seemingly at once, which is what makes this release different from the ones before it.  There wasn’t a riff we’ve been kicking around for months and then decided to make a song out of it. There wasn’t a bunch of words in a notebook that seemed to make sense to use for something. It just happened. The songs sound like they needed to come out. We did not spend months on top of months mulling the parts over. We did not lock ourselves in a room until we felt like we were finished. We did not take our time recording them. We decided it was time to do something, and then we did it. The product of all this is an EP representing a very particular and uncertain and most of all scary time period between the release of the full length, and where we’re at now as a band and as people.  It’s very exciting to have the chance to support this EP on tour with Real Friends, Mixtapes and Forever Came Calling this Fall because now that the pressure we put on ourselves to record these songs is off, the next step is turning attentions to the voice in the four of us that screams to share what we’ve been doing with as many people as possible.
