Pentimento To Release Self-Titled LP via Paper + Plastick Records on Nov. 13; New Music Video Streaming Now

By on September 19, 2012

Buffalo, N.Y.-based punk rockers Pentimento have announced via that their debut full-length will be released via Paper + Plastick Records on November 13. The self-titled full-length will follow up Pentimento’s Wrecked EP and split with Young English that came out via Panic Records in 2011 and earlier in 2012, respectively. Paper + Plastick Records will be handling the digital and vinyl release of the album, while Black Numbers will put the record out in CD and cassette formats.

To pair up with the album name and release date announcement, Pentimento has unveiled a brand-new song from record. The music video for “Circles” can be seen on YouTube and can be embedded on your websites. The band worked with Buffalo-basd Hate This Films on the video, and a making-of documentary will be coming soon.

In anticipation of the release, Pentimento will be heading out on a pre-Fest tour with Diamond Youth and Daylight. The group will rock The Fest 11 in Gainesville, Fla., on the weekend of October 27-30 before heading out on another tour to support The Swellers (also with Diamond Youth) as they make their way back home to the northeast. All of the dates can be seen in the tour admat below.

The release of Pentimento comes after months of perserverence and hard work from the band, who transitioned from a full-time touring schedule to record the album with engineer and producer Jay Zubricky at GCR Studios in Buffalo. “The first three months of this year were spent touring across the entire US, Europe, and the UK,” says lead singer Jeremiah Pauly. “As soon as we got home, we wrapped pre-production on our new record before settling into GCR Studios in Buffalo with Jay. We spent six months on the record, and now that it’s finished we’ve been constantly rehearsing for the tour schedule we have cut out for us this fall. Even with how busy we’ve been, we’re still most excited to finally release this album and get out on the road to support it.”

Fans should expect to see more of Pentimento in early 2013 as they continue to support their debut LP. The band also painstakingly debated which label should release the album, finally settling on a cooperative effort between Paper + Plastick and Black Numbers to take advantage of the specialties of both companies. As a launching point for young bands like Make Do and Mend and Cheap Girls, and a newer crop like Red City Radio and Junior Battles, Paper + Plastick’s devotion to unique vinyl products and a holistic music experience made the most sense for Pentimento.

“P+P/Black Numbers was the right decision for us because we felt that the team working on releasing the album had the passion, time, and resources that we were looking for to get this record out to the most people possible,” says bassist Vincent Caito. “Everyone involved really believes in this project and wants to work just as hard as we do at growing the band.”

Now, all that’s left is for Pentimento to finally unleash its debut album on the punk rock world and go around the globe some more to play the new songs. With a sound that encompasses legendary groups like Hot Water Music but also brings to light some of the younger punk bands like Make Do and Mend, Pentimento should be easy for fans of the genre to latch onto.

“We’ve encountered our fair share of hurdles,” says guitarist Lance Claypool. “The past year has been a whirlwind of traveling halfway across the world, playing basements and bars, and making lasting friendships. Countless nights of restless sleeping and driving until your eyes feel they’re going to give up and suck back into your head. But it has all culminated into something I wasn’t sure was ever going to see the light of day.

“As a band,” Claypool continues, “we are so proud to have taken the steps to continue this journey the best way we know how, and present a full-length that personifies our passion and love for what we do. My only hope is that people can relate to what we’ve created and come out to share it with us.”
