Pheroze shared some more information on the single. “Today I Belong to the Dead is the first song I wrote for Ennui. I just sat down with an acoustic guitar one evening and it poured out of me like a despondent baby. It really kicked off the central theme behind all the songs in Ennui, which I could really have called ‘Five Songs About Depression’ if I felt like cursing the album with a terribly long name.”

He continued, “Today I Belong to the Dead is about surrendering to to those times when you just inexplicably feel down. It’s about embracing depression as an old familiar friend; fighting it off by recognizing its place in your life and letting it soak in, beat you up, and move on.”

In addition to streaming the single, ArtistDirect has also given an exclusive preview of the “Today I Belong To The Dead” video (directed by Dave Bunting of King Killer Studios) that will be debuting in the coming weeks. Check it out HERE
