POWERS release lyric video for latest single ‘Touch The World’

Intimate can be loud. Rambunctious can be endearing. Heartfelt can be lighthearted. POWERS introduced themselves to the world on that premise. And it listened. Their romping bursting, single, “Gimme Some” shot up to the top of the Hype Machine popular page instantaneously after its fall release, and was featured globally on ad campaigns for J. Crew & Mastercard. Indie Shuffle called it “Infectious and damn right catchy”, and Stereofox encouraged us to look up indie-pop in the dictionary (they said we’d find the song there - we did). Their most recent release, “Touch The World” premiered on IDOLATOR,  with massive praise for “a chorus that you’ll be hardpressed to get out of your head after just one listen”.

POWERS is Mike Del Rio and Crista Ru. If you haven’t heard their names, rest assured, you’ve heard their tunes. After Mike Del Rio inked a publishing deal with Alex Da Kid (Rihanna’s “I Love the Way You Lie”, Imagine Dragons), he began writing and producing for Selena Gomez, LP, Jamie N Commons, X Ambassadors, Christina Aguilera, Skylar Grey, and Cee Lo Green, most recently producing LP’s tune, “Night Like This” and Kylie Minogue’s newest single “Into The Blue”. On the flip side of this creative powerhouse is writer Crista Ru. Aside from lending her breathy vocals and exquisite toplining to POWERS, her credits read like a who’s who of the recent pop landscape. From penning the lead tune from Selena Gomez‘s most recent release to finishing a Stockholm trip to work with Swedish gems Icona Pop, Ms. Ru has a poignant knack as an artistic muse and a searing-hot songstress, pairing her brilliant songs with perfect artists and stirring the two together to create electrifying performances.

With a versatile background in crafting both sonic and melodic textures, it’s clear that this LA duo is poised to continue their blossoming ascent. From the dripping sonic ripples of “Money” to the intoxicatingly youthful buoyancy of  “Gimme Some”, these two tunesmiths are doing classic popular song with a biting and prescient sense of modernity. With POWERS, one listen will loop your ears and your heart. And in 2014, that’s a rarity that you’re going to want to hit repeat on over and over again.
