As they embark on the second leg of their sold-out FACE THE MUSIC arena tour of Canada; Vancouver-based Marianas Trench have announced their signing to Cherrytree Records as their new label home for all countries outside of Canada. In Canada, the band will remain on 604 Records. Marianas Trench will release their four-song U.S. debut Face The Music EP May 14th on Cherrytree/604 Records/Interscope Records and will headline The Noise Tour Powered By Journeys which kicks off May 16th at the Knitting Factory in Spokane, WA (see below for tour dates).
The Face The Music EP will feature four songs including “Desperate Measures” and “Haven’t Had Enough”, both of which are featured on Marianas Trench’s third full length Canadian release Ever After.
Cherrytree’s Martin Kierszenbaum said, “Marianas Trench’s songwriting, production and performance are world-class. Their music is simultaneously sophisticated and accessible, classic and topical, multi-layered and urgent. It’s a real privilege for us to have Marianas Trench join the Cherrytree roster.”
604 President Jonathan Simkin commented, “604 is thrilled to have this opportunity to work with a label that has such a great track record of success with artists that are quirky and a bit left of center. We are looking forward to working with Martin and the whole Cherrytree team.”
Lead Singer/primary songwriter of Marianas Trench Josh Ramsay remarked, “The whole band is stoked to have such an amazing team behind us, and very proud to be part of the Cherrytree family. We look forward to bringing our music to fans all over the world”.
Marianas Trench was formed in Vancouver, BC by triple-threat lead singer/songwriter/producer Josh Ramsay who received a Grammy nomination in 2012 for his production and co-writing of Carly Rae Jepsen’s pop gem break-through “Call Me Maybe.” Marianas Trench has released three full length albums in Canada with the last two – Ever After and Masterpiece Theatre – being certified platinum in their home country. Numerous singles from both have surpassed platinum status in Canada. In March 2013 the band kicked off their Face The Music: With A Vengeance tour of Canada and accepted the Fan Choice award at the Canadian Radio Music Awards.
The current leg of the Face The Music tour will conclude with the band’s appearance on the Juno Awards, where Marianas Trench is nominated for three Junos. Ramsay has an additional solo Juno nomination for his production work on “Call Me Maybe” and other recordings. Marianas Trench will be headlining The Noise Tour Powered By Journeys throughout the U.S. in May and June.
