Psych Ward Druggies Premiere Religious Prescription Mixtape Today

By on October 7, 2013

Southern California hip-hop crew Psych Ward Druggies released their highly anticipated mixtape Religious Prescription today with The 34-track release – featured on Livemixtapes homepage all day – is the first release from the group, formed in early 2013 by the elusive Dr. Csalohcin.

With nine members, Psych Ward Druggies is no ordinary collective. The group plans to launch music, movies and comic books with a specific mission. Explaining the concept concocted by Dr. Csalohcin, PWD member Golden Boy reveals, “The world is a psych ward and we’re all drugged up by our society.” Through their art, the crew plans to send the important message that people can overcome the chaos around them positively.

ARTISTdirect hails, “Airtight MC work drives the songs, delivering some of the most intriguing rap to emerge from the West Coast in years. There’s absolutely nothing else out there like Psych Ward Druggies.”

The group made a video for its remarkable, thought-provoking song “Respect The Shooter.” The far-reaching song discusses everything from kids that are bullied to encouraging people to be -and believe in – themselves regardless of who they are and what they look like. Sonically, the song is propelled by an ultra-funky bassline, choice samples and a barrage of well-timed sound effects.

Each member of Psych Ward Druggies showcases his respective personality on Religious Prescription, which comes off as much more musically polished (live instrumentation never hurts) and thematically cohesive than most mixtapes.  PWD is generating buzz with brazen pop-up shows throughout California. Next up is the visual clip from the current single playing throughout southland clubs “Pop It For A Player.”
