Aid cannot come soon enough for the thousands of suffering people who are in need of food, clean water, and medical care following the earthquake disaster in Nepal.  The legendary post-hardcore band Refused, Portland record label and handmade goods store Tender Loving Empire, and Oregon-based cafe Laughing Planet have all pitched in using Generous. Beneficiaries of the sale include The American Red Cross and Save The Children

Generous is a new way for individuals to sell things online. Using the pay-what-is-fair pricing model, sellers allow buyers to select the price they’d like to pay. A percentage of the sellers choosing always is given to charity.

Generous is born out of the belief that people will be generous if given the opportunity. Most of us have the desire to give more but rarely have the chance. Generous’ mission is to provide this opportunity with a reliable set of tools that allow buyers to choose how generous they’d like to be and for sellers to receive a fair price – all while contributing to a greater social good.

Generous is an independent company of four based in Portland, Ann Arbor, and Milwaukee – a team of developers, musicians, animators, designers, web enthusiasts, and dreamers. We hope that what we’ve made can help everyone become a little more generous.
