Retro Soul singer/songwriter Tara Priya “Who You Do” single/video

Los Angeles retro soul singer/songwriter Tara Priya (pronounced Tar-ah Pree-ah) steps out of the studio to give fans a preview of new material with the single and video for “Who You Do” available now on iTunes.

Written in London earlier this year with Steve Booker, the song was completed in a day. “Without hyperbole, it was one of the best days of my life,” says Tara.
The song is about an ex-boyfriend whom after they broke up, “would awkwardly bring up recent interactions he had had with another girl–not to rub it in my face, but almost to get it off his chest and make him feel less guilty,” Tara explains. “I just wanted to tell him, dude, we’re not together, you don’t have to hide or confess anything, I don’t care who you do.”
For the video, Tara returned to New York City where she first began her career while a student at Columbia University. “We filmed it in Bushwick, Brooklyn, which I loved; my last two videos were done in LA, so I was glad another city I’ve lived in got a little love.”
This was also the first time Tara worked with director Adam Elias Buncher. “I’d long been a fan of his work after seeing the videos he did for Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, so when I decided to do the video, I reached out to him. He thought the song was awesome and couldn’t wait to get started. “
Following her performances at SXSW, Tara will return to the studio to continue writing and recording her forthcoming album.
