Review: Chiodos live at The Hi Fi in Brisbane, Australia

ChiodosChiodos fans of past, present, and future,
I have seen one of my favorite bands through my teen years (I’m now 24) Chiodos perform MANY times in America as well as front man Craig Owens performing several times with Cinematic Sunrise and DRUGS. But I recently attended a show in Brisbane, Australia (my new home) and what I saw was something completely opposite to what I have ever seen before at any Chiodos/Craig Owens performance. Through the years I have actually fallen out of the music “scene” and have focused on other things in life, but when I heard Chiodos was having a show in my new home town, I knew I would have to go. Chiodos played at a decent sized venue called the Hi Fi, now my thought this night was that it would be sold out or close to with Chiodos now back together and them being one of the most popular post-hardcore bands in my generation. Upon arrival I was shocked to see their wasn’t a big line, after entering the venue and watching the two opening bands the room failed to fill up which was good for the group I came with because we had an awesome view and didn’t have to fight the crowd. Suddenly I remembered every show I had ever seen in Virginia with Craig Owens as front man being completely packed and over crowded and I thought maybe we would get a pretty shitty show because he just wouldn’t see the point in performing. MAN WAS I WRONG! Craig came out and fucking smashed it! He was communicating with the crowd, thanking everyone for being there, and was extremely grateful. Not to mention they were a few members short who were substituted by some awesome guys from bands like Scary Kids Scaring Kids and forgive me I can’t remember where the other artist were from. The show was so intimate! With old songs to new songs even including a song from DRUGS. This would have to be the best show I have ever seen with Craig Owens as front man of Chiodos and the band was so amazing for only joining the tour short noticed as substitutes! If you have the chance to see Chiodos perform don’t hesitate to purchase that ticket! Craig and the boys put on a show that will make you fall in love with post hardcore and your 16 year old scene mullet again!!!

Sincerely always a Chiodos fan,
