Rhonda Vincent, the undisputed “new queen of bluegrass,” as proclaimed by the Wall Street Journal, has just picked up a nomination for the International Bluegrass Music Association’s (IBMA) annual award show for Female Vocalist of the Year. Vincent has been flying high on the charts since the release of her latest album Only Me, which spent its first 2 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Bluegrass Albums chart. Awards will be given out on October 2nd at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in Raleigh, NC. The show is set to be hosted by country phenomenon Lee Ann Womack, along with Jerry Douglas. During IBMA week, Rhonda Vincent will be joined by Gene Watson on 9/30 for a very special show in Raleigh at the Duke Energy Center Memorial Auditorium. You can purchase tickets for this must-see concert HERE.
“Such an honor to be nominated for Female Vocalist for the IBMA Awards! Congratulations to all the nominees! I was thrilled to see our sponsor “Martha White” mentioned in the Song of the Year nominations. I’m thrilled to travel and perform aboard the Martha White Bluegrass Express in the tradition of Flatt & Scruggs, and with amazing world class musicians. We look forward to performing in Raleigh, NC on Tuesday before the award show, and we’ll be rooting for all our friends who received IBMA nominations.”
– RHONDA VINCENT
Rhonda is currently a 7-time Female Vocalist of the Year award-winner. For 7 years straight, Vincent took home the award for top female vocalist stretching from 2000-2006. In addition to this, she also won the most coveted award in bluegrass, Entertainer of the Year in 2001.
Since the release of Only Me earlier this year, Rhonda has seen both chart success and critical acclaim. Country Weekly exclaimed that her fans “appreciate the honest and true music Rhonda Vincent continues to crank out after all these years.” In addition to an endorsement by country superstar Dolly Parton, the media is calling this “the perfect mix of country and bluegrass” (ParcBench). Having duets with both Willie Nelson and Daryle Singletary to help generate buzz, the authenticity of this new project continues to move and inspire fans while reaching new listeners. The first single “Busy City” spent 2 months in the top spot on the Bluegrass Today chart, while the Willie Nelson assisted title-track continues to gain traction!
