The idea behind Richmond, Virginia’s first annual Fall Line Fest is ambitious; set to take place September 6th & 7th, 2013, the organizers are aiming to showcase what it is exactly that gives Richmond its own unique charm. With a focus on music, food, and art, the two day event balances both nationally-known names and homegrown talent, all within a walkable area of the city’s downtown.
Organizers are excited to announce several new bands to the weekend’s lineup including Kopecky Family Band (recently seen on Leno), Speedy Ortiz, Thou, Pity Sex and Diamond Youth in addition to previously announced headliners Big Freedia, Neon Indian (DJ set) and Cold Cave (see poster for full 40+ band line-up). Food events for the weekend include panels with renowned local chefs and restauranteurs and special artist/chef menu collaborations, while art events include a live mural painting by acclaimed Richmond street artist Ham? and multiple galleries opening new shows that Friday evening.
Day passes for the festival are now available for $15 per day advance / $20 day of show, while weekend passes are $20 advance / $30 weekend of. There will be no individual show tickets. In an amazing show of community support, Fall Line Fest has been funded in its entirety by local organizations including Venture Richmond, Need Supply Co. and VCU Arts. Driven by an all-volunteer team drawing from a wealth of experience, Fall Line Fest promises to truly exemplify the rich, supportive character Richmond has come to embody in modern times and to be the ideal weekend to acquaint oneself to the city for locals and visitors alike.
