Sarah Jaffe is super excited to announce some Spring US tour dates. She’ll be kicking things off with fellow Kirtland Records recording artist Bob Schneider at The Mint in LA on May 14th, followed by a series of Living Room Shows – http://www.undertowmusic.com/sarah-jaffe-living-room-tour/ (Living Rooms TBD 😉 on the West Coast and a June US tour with Anticon recording artist Why? that has Sarah visiting several cities in the Midwest and Northeast.
The June run coincides with the theatrical release of Disney/Pixar’s The Blue Umbrella – the short film featuring Jaffe’s voice that Pixar paired with Monsters University – the prequel to 2001’s classic Monsters Inc. Word of Jaffe’s involvement with The Blue Umbrella first broke back in January when The Wall Street Journal did a story on the short that unveiled the fact that the film’s director Saschka Unseld, had been a fan of Sarah’s for some time. In a conversation with Unseld, The Wall Street Journal learned that “when he shot an animation test on his iPhone, he scored it to her voice. Jaffe’s dulcet tones can now be heard in the final film. ‘She’s been there for me since the inception,’ Unseld said.” For her contribution to The Blue Umbrella, Sarah entered the studio with Jon Brion to record vocals for the score a few months after hearing Unseld’s vision for the film.
All of this comes after an amazing year for Sarah. She released her latest full-length album The Body Wins last April to raves from the press including The New York Times, NPR, ELLE, Billboard, Interview and Filter. In December she made her late night TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where she played both “Mannequin Woman” and “Talk,” and earlier this year Entertainment Weekly premiered her “mesmerizing” music video for “Mannequin Woman.” Sarah also had the pleasure of joining The Cannabinoids in early March at this year’s 35 Denton. Billed as “The Cannabinoids featuring Sarah Jaffe,” the performance was a not to miss with eight laptops, three turntables, six keyboards, four drum machines and a Theremin.
Jaffe will continue to build on the amazing accomplishments of the past year when she hits the road again this Spring for both the Living Room Tour and the tour with Why? Confirmed dates below and for the most up-to-date information please visit www.sarahjaffe.com.
