Scattered Trees Launch Video Contest On Consequence of Sound, Stream New Album On Spinner
Chicago-based band Scattered Trees, and key independent culture websites Consequence of Sound and Cluster 1, have launched the Four Play Contest – where four aspiring student filmmakers have each created their own video for the band’s song “Four Days Straight.” The four finalists were chosen from New York-area film schools – NYU, Princeton, and The School of Visual Arts. The band visited New York for “four days straight” in February, working with each director for one day each on each clip. The results are now available for viewing and commenting at Consequence of Sound. The winning clip will become the band’s “official” video for “Four Days Straight.”
The promotion has launched today, coinciding with the band’s new release, Sympathy, on Roll Call/EMI Records. The new album can be listened to all week long courtesy of the folks over at AOL Spinner.
Scattered Trees is a young group of artists who grew up together in the outskirts of Chicago. Some of the members share last names, albeit for different reasons. They are the kind of friends who can separate and come back together at ease, entertained by a constellation of conversations and the familiarity of each other’s voices. As is the case with any ambitious set of individuals aspirations beyond their hometown, as they grew, Scattered Trees spent more and more time apart until it seemed the norm. Just when it appeared life had separated them for good, tragedy struck, a death, and Scattered Trees came back together, recording an album emblazed with the sincerity and beauty that only the most terrible of times can yield. That album is Sympathy (Roll Call Records).
