As To Sail Black Waters, the debut full-length from Oakland, California’s six-piece progressive doom ensemble, SECRETS OF THE SKY, nears release early this Autumn, today the outfit unveils another colossal track from the expansive album through a new lyric video for “Sunrise.” Although it is the shortest of the four tracks the album bears, “Sunrise” still packs a nearly eight-minute surge of endlessly-expansive but utterly suffocating, slow-motion turmoil, its undertow pulling you into the unfathomable depths of your uncreation.

Stated SOTS guitarist/keyboardist Clayton Bartholomew of the track: “We are proud to be releasing the lyric video for the song ‘Sunrise.’ The video was put together by vocalist Garett Gazay, and he used imagery that he felt best conveyed his lyrical content and theme for the song. We think it turned out nicely and summarizes the metaphorical concepts laid out by the lyrics. Enjoy!”

SECRETS OF THE SKY also recently completed their first official video for the album’s crushing “Decline,” set for release in the coming days. For now, the audio of the track is playing at Decibel Magazine HERE.

Italian metal label Kolony Records will release To Sail Black Waters throughout Europe on October 4th and 5th, and in North America on October 8th. Projecting a unique brand of cinematic, cerebral, atmospheric metal with a persuasion towards doom metal and blackened influences citing The Ocean, Ahab, Minsk, Rosetta, Agalloch, Year Of No Light and more, on To Sail Black Waters, three of SECRETS OF THE SKY’s six-member lineup each make contributions with multiple instruments, layering synth/keys, violins and an array of vocal styles atop the crushing rhythm section and massive triple guitar attack. The resulting four massive tracks a dense and stunning forty-one minute opus, thundering with pristine and powerful production, the outcome of a massive spread-out eight month period of recording sessions at Trident Studios with engineer/producer Juan Urteaga (Testament, Machine Head, Cattle Decapitation).
