SHILPA RAY AND HER HAPPY HOOKERS ANNOUNCE
NEW TOUR DATES WITH MAN MAN
CURRENTLY ON TOUR WITH ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE
CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED NEWALBUM TEENAGE AND TORTURE
OUT NOW
Shilpa Ray And Her Happy Hookers have no plans of slowing down this spring. Following their current cross country run with legendary Japanese psych rockers Acid Mothers Temple, they immediately continue on with experimental Philly band Man Man for upcoming dates that run from the end of April until June 3rd in Washington, DC.
The band are riding high on the praise for their recently released album Teenage andTorture (Knitting Factory). “The songs on her new album,” writes The New York Times, “merge the garage-level girl-group rock of early Blondie with the psychobilly stomp and bloodthirsty imagination of The Cramps.” Nylon described the album as “Rough, Rude, and immensely likeable.”
Over their first few dates with Acid Mothers Temple, Shilpa Ray And Her Happy Hookers have been wowing audiences in person too. In the bay area, the band “lashed into a too-brief set of dense, ultra-loud songs veering expertly from punk to experimental,” according to the San Francisco Weekly. “This expertise is no mere genre-juggling,” they went on, “but a determination to move audiences by any means necessary.”
