After the international success of their EP Mannequins (downloads in over 198 countries), rock band MONSTER CAT now releases their radical full-length record The Violet Hour. Produced by Tim Carr (Matt Corby, Flea, Mark Ronson) at the famed Studios 301 in Sydney (Kanye West, Lady Gaga, Jay-Z), The Violet Hour boasts 13 tracks that fuse the worlds of organic and synthetic sounds in the mold of Radiohead, St. Vincent and Atoms For Peace.
Take Me To Love
In a short few years, the Singapore-based band has been voted Artist Of The Week on MTV’s global indie music site; opened for UK livewire act the Noisettes, recorded with Steve Lillywhite (U2, The Killers, The Rolling Stones) and even earned a shoutout from industry guru Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd, Nine Inch Nails, Deftones).
MONSTER CAT has been invited to numerous festivals including SXSW, Culture Collide in Los Angeles and the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg. They’ve also shared the stage with popular international acts like The Naked and Famous, Metronomy and The Jezabels.
They will be opening for double-platinum Australian electronic music duo Empire Of The Sun on February 21st 2014. Lushly layered and full of fresh, exotic sounds, MONSTER CAT’s new album The Violet Hour is hard to pin down. Despite drawing from a host of genres, the record focuses on creating intense, melodic rock songs while keeping the band’s trademark vocal harmonies. The result is an exciting and emotional sonic trip, that aims to give the listener new perspectives on the rock paradigm.
MONSTER CAT is slated to tour the new record in China (JUE Festival featuring The Lumineers), Australia and Europe for the year 2014. A music video is in the works for their lead single “Take Me To Love”, with more videos and new merchandise to come.
