SKATE AND SURF FESTIVAL Announces Official Photographers

By on April 27, 2013

Anticipation’s booming for the return of popular pre-summer festival SKATE AND SURF FESTIVAL, which will make its triumphant comeback May 18th and 19th at The Plaza Green at iPlay America in Freehold, NJ. After an eight year hiatus, they’re back with a killer lineup including Fall Out Boy, Glassjaw, A Day to Remember, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Saves The Day, Bayside, Andrew W.K., Into It. Over It., Transit and many more. Joining the festival to document its epic return with live and behind the scenes shots are official photographers, Chicago-based Ashley Osborn and local New Jerseyan photog, Keeyahtay Lewis.

To say that Ashley’s excited about photographing something as legendary as SKATE AND SURF FESTIVAL is an understatement: “It’s truly an honor to be a part of, let alone photographing, something as iconic as SKATE AND SURF FESTIVAL. Especially this year with it’s return! Fall Out Boy was the first band I ever wanted to photograph – they are the reason I picked up a camera years ago and this will be my first time photographing them. It’s going to be pretty insane for me to cross that off of my list.”

Ashley Osborn (

Ashley Osborn is a Chicago based music, promotional and documentary photographer. After dark times in her life, she packed up ounces of determination and minimal gear and made the eight hour move from Minneapolis to Chicago in 2010. During her three short years in Chicago, Osborn co-founded Highlight Magazine, photographed dozens of major festivals (Lollapalooza, Q87.7 Chicago’s Night We Stole X-Mas, Warped Tour, Mayhem Festival & more), focused on Public Relations at Columbia College Chicago and has had the honor of working directly with some of the industry’s most iconic artists – Anberlin, LIGHTS, Craig Owens (Chiodos) and Anthony Green (Circa Survive),  to name just a few.

Recently, she has been added to the Catalyst Publicity Group team as a Publicity Coordinator and hasn’t thought about slowing down. She believes that you can achieve any goal and overcome your obstacles by believing in yourself and in your art.

He started shooting live music and felt everything change. In a short amount of time he had become a very well known concert photographer.

In the last few years Lewis has photographed everyone from Jay Z to the Foo Fighters, worked closely with some of his heroes including Anthony Green and Circa Survive and Geoff Rickly of Thursday. He’s been published in AP magazine, Inked Magazine, Billboard Magazine, Substream Music Magazine, Broken Records magazine, Stencil Mag, among others. Clients have included Live Nation, Izod Center, Warner Brothers Records, Google Inc, Garden State Skate mag, and more recently, Skate and Surf Festival/Game Changer. When Lewis is not shooting music photographs a lot of landscapes, weddings, and portraits. “I never want to feel like I am not moving forward and I keep trying to push myself where my work is concerned.”
