Spin Premieres The Casket Girls “Heartless” Video; Self-Titled EP Out On Record Store Day

Spin has premiered The Casket Girls’ new video for “Heartless” from the band’s debut album Sleepwalking out now on Graveface Records. The video is a Casket Girls home video production, shot and directed by their friend Anton. The girls are seen having fun karaoke-ing their song “Heartless” whilst giving a dinner party for their absent muse. Spin said The Casket Girls are, “back with a relatively sunny, cable access-ready clip for “Heartless,” a bewitching cut from from said LP that’d either make Ariel Pink really proud or really grouchy.” And like Ariel Pink, they exist in a world where reflective and, at times, morose musings naturally co-exist with the unfashionable, weird, or bizarre – as darkness is always served best with a side of absurdity.

The Casket Girls is a new three-piece band hailing from Savannah, GA. Comprised of Ryan Graveface (Black Moth Super Rainbow, The Marshmallow Ghosts, Dreamend) who wrote and played all the song structures, and newcomers, Elsa and Phaedra Greene, who wrote and performed all of the vocals. Their debut, Sleepwalking, came out in November and was well received for its dark, poppy & dreamy sensibilities. The album received praise from top press outlets including NPR, Paste and The Washington Post, who said Sleepwalking is “creepy cool…add in a genteel fascination with the afterworld, and you’ve got the best album released this year by folks who are possibly undead.” All Music Guide raved, “There is a palpable melancholy that pervades and invades each song, sneaking in around the edges of the hooky synth melodies and the catchy choruses like a dark mist.”

Less than six months after The Casket Girls’ debut album, Sleepwalking, comes a brand new, five song Self-Titled EP due this Record Store Day (April 20). The songs pick up where they left off on Sleepwalking but there’s a sense of urgency that was not there previously. Perhaps a nod to the songs that will be on their second full-length album coming at the end of 2013.
