Hot off the heels of a string of sold-out shows supporting Strung Out and Unwritten Law in Southern California, San Diego hard rock outfit Sprung Monkey has announced they will release their new album “Dead Is Dead” on November 26th, 2013 on Pacific Records. The current incarnation of Sprung Monkey consists of vocalist Steve Summers, bassist Tony DeLocht, drummer Ernie Longoria, as well as guitarists Mike Summers and William ‘Chuck’ Riley. The band will be hitting the road later this fall in support of the new album throughout November and December.
“We wanted to create a full firing, high energy record that we could take to the stage and play start to finish. No filler, no fluff,” said Sprung Monkey frontman Steve Summers. “Having self-produced this it is a true representation of what we wanted to create, and we had no outside influences with their diluting suggestions. Things feel fresh and alive right now and the excitement towards the future of Sprung Monkey is infectious.”
From the early days of selling CD’s out of their trunk to their breakout success on MTV, Sprung Monkey has kept true to their heavy, hypnotic sound. Through the years, Sprung Monkey have become a staple in the extreme and action sports world, appearing on ESPN’s X-Games and contributing tunes to countless surf, skate, and snowboarding films, which opened up opportunities that have included major tours and festivals in United States, Europe, and Australia. The band’s relentless work ethic and tour schedule earned them spots on the Van’s Warped Tour, a slot at the world famous KROQ’s Weenie Roast, film and television placements, and an appearance on the Conan O’Brian Show. Over the past few years the guys have been exploring, growing and focusing their musical talents to write some of their best music to date which continues to fuel and embrace the classic Spring Monkey sound and the California lifestyle that their music embodies.
